We provide what is known as the “sealant layer” of a lamination defined as combining two dissimilar films ( substrates ) with adhesive. The outer layer is most commonly polyester, nylon or polypropylene ( PP ). When heat is applied by the sealing jaws, the polyethylene ( PE ) sealant layer starts flowing and caulking before the outer layer.
Our standard and custom sealant layers are matched to the end product. All are FDA, Kosher approved and have minimal odor and taste transfer. For example, we have films which will seal through contaminants such as dust and liquids. Others will seal and stand up to residual heat from pasteurization, or "hot fill". All sealant layers are designed to be as forgiving as possible to prevent "channel leakers"
